Water Damage

Water Smarter

Got a leaky faucet? A busted or frozen pipe? Or any other kind of water damage? You need to get it taken care of immediately before mold or mildew grows. On top of that every water disaster is different, from the amount of water to the level of contamination of the water. Each situation requires a general process, but may also require a unique solution. At Whitecap Construction we test, treat, and remediate the issue.

Our Standard Process

  1. Thorough assessment and inspection of the structure to determine the extent of the water damage. This is done with infrared cameras and moisture meters.
  2. Remove any standing water.
  3. Utilize industrial strength drying equipment.
  4. Continuous inspections of the condition until the structure has reached their drying goals.
    • If there is structural damage that cannot be repaired this way, we have construction services that can repair the damage

To Do Before We Get There

  • Call Us Immediately: We get there ASAP to assess the damage and get started to work right away.
  • Shut Off Water: This can stop any further water damaging your property.
  • Water Removal: Mop up as much as you can, open up windows in hot weather, and if it’s safe, turn on you’re A/C.
  • Watch Your Step: Floors may be slick and you want to watch out for any exposed electrical wiring.
  • Pick Up Rugs: Take out any area rugs or runners that you can so the water doesn’t just sit there.
  • Dry Containers: If you can dry any containers, suitcases, etc. open them up and dry outside if you can.
  • Protect Valuables: Art, TV’s, furniture, décor, etc. relocate to a safe, dry place.
  • Dry Your Clothing: Immediately wash and dry all your wet clothes. Hang leather goods and furs to dry or take them to a professional cleaner.
  • Protect Your Furniture: Put a barrier between the furniture legs and the wet carpet. Open doors and drawers to dry out the interiors.

What Not To Do

  • Operate a vacuum cleaner.
  • Touch electrical outlets.
  • Use any devices or appliances.
  • Turn up the heat.

Our Process

We start with a water damage assessment, remove the standing water, and then start the dehumidification and drying process. What’s important after this is to have a professional cleaning done, which we do as well. We clean, deodorize, spot clean, paint, and more. Your place will look even better than it did before the water damage.
